Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems Program
One of only 14 sites in the country designated as a Traumatic Brain Injury Model System by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), TIRR Memorial Hermann uses this grant to investigate the effects of traumatic brain injury on social communication.

The Pathway to Excellence Program from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recognizes health care organizations for positive practice environments where nurses excel. Pathway to Excellence hospitals improve nurse satisfaction, retain choice nursing staff and leaders, and demonstrate inter-professional teamwork.
In 2013, TIRR Memorial Hermann was recognized by the ANCC with the Pathway to Excellence designation - the precursor for Magnet® status. A Pathway to Excellence hospital is a champion of high quality nursing practice.
TIRR Memorial Hermann’s Pathway to Excellence is a journey of accomplishments in quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction, operational excellence, nurse recruitment and retention, and individual achievements. To receive accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance. Additionally, the sleep center’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.
