TIRR Memorial Hermann is committed to the education of future therapists. We have education contracts with schools and universities nationally and internationally and we provide clinical internships in both inpatient and outpatient neurorehabilitation.
We ask that students who are considering TIRR Memorial Hermann for their clinical education have a strong interest in the neurologically involved population and have completed their neurological academic coursework.
We provide a post-professional neurologic physical therapy residency program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association. We offer a 52-week program which includes a wide range of clinical and didactic experiences across the lifespan and continuum of care. This collaborative program provides licensed physical therapists the opportunity to enhance their skills while receiving mentorship from clinical experts in the area of neurologic physical therapy and academicians of two major educational institutions.
Interested new graduates and clinicians can learn more about the requirements and application process for the neurologic physical therapy residency online.
We also provide clinical rotations to help meet academic coursework required to sit for the physical therapy licensure exam. These clinical rotations are coordinated directly through the universities and colleges.
Interested students should contact their Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education or Jordan Birdsong at Jordan.Birdsong@memorialhermann.org, to set up a clinical rotation with us. Rotation schedules are determined approximately one year in advance.
Internship offerings for students in Master's programs are coordinated directly between the SLP Research/Education coordinator and the school.
Interested students should contact Chelsea Reisman at inpatient rehabilitation at Chelsea.Reisman@memorialhermann.org or Veronica Garcia-Lechuga at outpatient rehabilitation at Veronica.Garcia-Lechuga@memorialhermann.org to set up a clinical rotation with TIRR Memorial Hermann. Rotation schedules are determined approximately one year in advance.
