About Our Namesake

The Red Duke Trauma Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center has a deep history in Houston that dates back to the early 1970's when Dr. James "Red" Duke, Jr. worked with his colleagues to build trauma services from the ground up. It now stands as one of only two Level I Trauma Centers in the Greater Houston area committed to providing the best possible care for trauma patients.
