Message From the Chief Medical Officer

It’s an honor to have been recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s annual listing of Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation since the inception of the list 29 years ago. The recognition puts us in the good company of other outstanding rehabilitation hospitals in the United States, many of which are our collaborators on research projects that lead to improvements in clinical care.

Our reputation for excellence is based on our solid history of accomplishment in clinical care backed by a 60-year legacy of innovation through research. Those who select the Best Hospitals annually are physicians practicing around the country, which makes it a special honor. Going above and beyond is an obligation we take to heart at TIRR Memorial Hermann. I want to thank our terrific team of affiliated physicians, therapists, nurses and other health care professionals who work daily to maximize independence for people whose lives have been changed by disabling illness or injury.

Today with more than 46 researchers funded by nearly $30 million in research awards, we’re breaking the barriers of disability one study at a time. Thanks to our research and the courage, determination and character of the men, women and children who pass through our doors, they achieve things that once seemed impossible. They’re winners because they thrive on a challenge and never quit.
