Xiaoyan Li, PhD, has joined TIRR Memorial Hermann as a research scientist in the NeuroMyoelectric Engineering for Rehabilitation Laboratory with a concurrent appointment as a research assistant professor in the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
Dr. Li received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Anhui University in Hefei, China, and her master’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China, also located in Hefei. She earned a second master’s degree in computer sciences from Loyola University in Chicago, followed by her doctorate in bioengineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Neural Computation of the University of California at San Diego and in the Sensory Motor Performance Program of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Prior to coming to Houston in 2014, she was a research assistant professor in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Dr. Li’s research interests including electromyography and electrophysiological analysis, anticipatory posture control and assistive devices for neurorehabilitation. The NeuroMyoelectric Engineering for Rehabilitation Lab is located in the TIRR Memorial Hermann Research Center.
