The team at TIRR Memorial Hermann Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation – Katy hosted its first-ever Sensory-Friendly Halloween Celebration on Thursday evening, offering children who have sensory sensitivities a fun and inclusive way to enjoy the holiday.

Designed to be a calmer, quieter environment, the event replaced flashing lights, loud music and spooky settings with gentle lighting, soothing décor, and sensory-conscious activities that encouraged participation without overstimulation. Children dressed up in costumes of their choice, made “Boo Bags” to collect treats, and took part in friendly “trick-or-treating” stations—without any of the frights that can make traditional Halloween celebrations overwhelming.

The Katy outpatient clinic, which opened last month, brings TIRR Memorial Hermann’s specialized pediatric rehabilitation services closer to families in Katy and West Houston. The team provides expert care for children with neurological, developmental, genetic, and other complex medical conditions—helping them build confidence, independence, and joy in everyday experiences.
