This weekend wrapped up a 3 day workshop in Sugar Land, TX designed to help those who have lost multiple limbs.

There is no other event like this in the world. Organized by the non-profit group “Enhancing Skills for Life”, the workshop brings together individuals living without both arms or hands and some even who live also without legs and feet.

This year’s Skills for Life workshop featured powerful sessions such as inclusive and adaptive yoga and an instructional boot camp designed specifically for individuals with quadrilateral limb difference. These activities go beyond exercise—they help participants strengthen balance, coordination, and core stability while discovering new ways to move, adapt, and navigate everyday life. Through guided instruction and peer support, attendees of every age and background learned how to build strength, confidence, and independence, reinforcing the workshop’s mission to help every participant live more fully and overcome daily challenges. Maybe as importantly, participants say, they learn they are not alone in overcoming their challenges.

TIRR Memorial Hermann is a proud sponsor of the Skills For Life workshop.

The Amputee and Limb Loss Rehabilitation Program at TIRR Memorial Hermann prepares patients and their families to cope physically and psychologically with the traumatic or surgical loss of a limb or a congenital limb deficiency.
