Memorial Hermann and ExxonMobil have unveiled the new ExxonMobil-sponsored H145 Life Flight helicopter, which joined the Memorial Hermann Life Flight fleet in July 2025. ExxonMobil generously donated $5 million to Memorial Hermann Life Flight® as part of a $55 million campaign to fund the purchase of four new helicopters and a specialty aircraft to replace the current, aging fleet.
The new fleet will include four new H145 helicopters and one new H160 helicopter (the first H160 helicopter in the world to be used for air EMS, coming in 2026). The H160 helicopter will expand Life Flight’s service area to a 250-mile radius of Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC) to serve more people in need of critical air ambulance transport. The new fleet (the new H145’s are easily distinguished from the old helicopters by the new tail rotors) will include larger cabin and cargo spaces, enhanced technology and safety features, an increased fuel load and shorter reconfiguration times — providing the capabilities of an intensive care unit in the sky.
