February 02, 2026

February marks American Heart Month! Staff at Children’s Memorial Hermann wanted to kick-off the month with a “Hearts of Hope” celebration for their pediatric patients in the Children’s Heart Institute. Facility dog Stephan delivered goodies door-to-door alongside staff, all dressed in their heart-themed best.

In the United States, approximately 1 in 100 babies born are impacted by congenital heart disease. With 42 inpatient beds, the Children’s Heart Institute provides specialized care for babies and children with congenital or acquired heart disease. They even have a dedicated facility dog, Stephan, who brings lots of smiles each day with a huge heart of his own. As we enter Heart Month, staff wanted to make sure their pediatric heart warriors know exactly how special and brave they are.

The Children’s Heart Institute strives to offer patients with the most complex problems the greatest opportunity for a healthy life, and is consistently recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation for Cardiology and Heart Surgery by US News & World Report.

Happy Heart Month!
