Dr. John Holcomb and Dr. Red Duke, trauma surgeons at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, worked with the Texas Medical Center to develop a program focused on hiring veterans at institutions throughout the Texas Medical Center. This program, called "Hiring Red, White and You!" helps veterans overcome biases and roadblocks and assimilate into the civilian job market.
As a military veterans, Dr. Duke and Dr. Holcomb are well aware of challenges facing our veterans. Numerous Texas Medical Center member institutions have joined the initiative in order to help veterans transfer the skills, knowledge and abilities developed in the armed forces to jobs in health care.
