Our women's health residents will receive 3-6 hours per week of one-on-one mentoring for a total of over 150 hours of mentorship throughout the program, focusing on in-depth, differential diagnosis and patient management. Our women's health, orthopedic and sports residents work closely together and have the opportunity to collaborate and network with other Texas-area programs as well.
As part of the largest medical center in the world, Memorial Hermann provides exceptional opportunities including mentorship within multiple clinics, access to other system residencies and specialized post-professional programs such as the Spine Program and Hip Preservation Program, and collaboration with physicians to foster relationship development and prepare residents for successful inter-professional interactions in the future.
All residents will serve as a clinical instructor at the end of the program and receive mentorship on their clinical education skills. Additionally, formal and informal presentations throughout the year along with monthly journal clubs give the resident the opportunity to expand their network while sharpening their presentation skills.
In addition to the didactic curriculum developed by our system, residents will complete both CAPP 2 & 3 courses throughout the residency year. These courses, paid for by Memorial Hermann, will add to the curriculum journey by reinforcing the education they receive from didactic modules and enhance their ability to improve patient outcomes and grow as clinicians. Throughout the residency year, the residents will present and receive feedback on numerous topics to improve public speaking and engagement skills. Residents will be mentored through the formation of a case report allowing eligibility to sit for the CAPP certification and Women's Health Specialist Certification exam application.
Residents participate in our leadership curriculum to establish and hone their professional development plan in order to prepare for future aspirations upon completing residency. Residents will have the opportunity to interact with leaders and influencers from within the Memorial Hermann Health System and across the profession. The leadership curriculum includes skills such as networking, the business of physical therapy and personal development implementation.
