Program PurposeThe ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop clinical pharmacists who are skilled in diverse patient care, are eligible to seek board certification in pharmacotherapy, and eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.
The PGY1 residency takes place at the Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, a 293-bed community hospital serving southeast Houston and the Bay Area. Residents will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of pharmacy practice settings including acute-care and outpatient. The experience will promote competence in diverse patient populations, exposure to a variety of disease states, assist in advancing pharmacy practice, and enhancing patient outcomes. Additionally, the program places significant emphasis on developing leadership and management skills, as well as fostering expertise in teaching, education, and knowledge dissemination.
*Majority of experiences will be conducted at primary practice site, but some experiences will be completed at participating sites.
