Southeast Residency Program

Program Purpose

The ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop clinical pharmacists who are skilled in diverse patient care, are eligible to seek board certification in pharmacotherapy, and eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.

About Our Program

The PGY1 residency takes place at the Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, a 293-bed community hospital serving southeast Houston and the Bay Area. Residents will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of pharmacy practice settings including acute-care and outpatient. The experience will promote competence in diverse patient populations, exposure to a variety of disease states, assist in advancing pharmacy practice, and enhancing patient outcomes. Additionally, the program places significant emphasis on developing leadership and management skills, as well as fostering expertise in teaching, education, and knowledge dissemination.

• Graduate from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy with a Pharm.D. degree by the start of the residency year
• A strong academic record and demonstrate a desire for professional accomplishment
• Registered with Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) and the ASHP Matching Program
• Application must be submitted through the Pharmacy Online Residency Application Service (PhORCAS) by January 2^nd - NMS Code: 218713

• Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Texas
  • The resident is strongly encouraged to obtain State of Texas licensure prior to starting the residency program, but MUST be obtained within 60 days of residency start date.
• Eligible for employment by Memorial Hermann Health System
  • Memorial Hermann will no longer hire individuals who use tobacco products of any form
  • Must comply with annual influenza vaccination policies
• Applicants considered for a position will be required to complete a formal interview
