Dr. Harris headshotAs a community-owned health system serving one of the most diverse cities in the nation, Memorial Hermann plays a leading role in promoting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. We know that Memorial Hermann thrives when our patients, employees, affiliated providers, students and trainees and the greater community thrives, and we recognize and celebrate the incredible diversity throughout Greater Houston. Our commitment expands far beyond our organization as we strive to bring equitable services and health care programs to all.

Memorial Hermann is committed to being an equity-minded health system. Our work and learning environment is optimized when every person can attain their full potential, and no one is disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position, group identity or other socially determined circumstances. We work to create opportunities for our workforce by embedding growth and development in our culture, and we encourage our employees to be actively engaged in our EDI efforts.

I was honored to join an organization with a strong foundation and commitment to EDI. Since joining, I’ve led efforts to formalize our EDI strategy and organizational alignment to support Memorial Hermann’s mission and goals and established the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Through strategic, intentional and multilayered efforts, we know we can create meaningful change and work toward a future where differences are valued, opportunities are equitable and individuals, families and entire communities are uplifted and supported.
