Vascular and Interventional Radiology is the operating room of the Radiology department. Interventional radiologists specialize in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to treat tumors, biopsy internal organs, open blocked arteries and veins, drain abscesses and fluid collections, and treat many other conditions and disorders. Interventional radiologists also diagnose vascular pathology utilizing noninvasive CT angiography studies that produce revolutionary three-dimensional images of vessels within the body. Primary care physicians, hospitalists and specialists refer patients to interventional radiologists to provide these interventional procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
