The Forensic Nursing Services team travels to six other hospitals in the Memorial Hermann system in a mobile unit. This unique service began in 1992 as an adult sexual assault nurse examiner program. It was revitalized in 2001 to provide nurses who respond to all victims of crime, including physically and sexually abused children.
The Pediatric Emergency Room houses a room containing specialized equipment for use in assessments. Information gained from evaluations is passed on to law enforcement agencies.
Forensic Nursing Services works as a multidisciplinary team to bridge the gap between healthcare and law enforcement.
