TIRR Memorial Hermann - Southwest offers multidisciplinary inpatient medical rehabilitation for patients whose lives are impacted by injury or illness. Like the other three TIRR Memorial Hermann inpatient rehabilitation facilities across Houston, TIRR Memorial Hermann - Southwest offers an inpatient rehabilitation unit that is designed to help patients reach optimal functionality through personalized, comprehensive care.
TIRR Memorial Hermann - Southwest includes 18 private patient rooms, expanded Family Resource Center, and two newly renovated therapy gyms that include gait and balance systems as well as electrical stimulation to simulate functional, task-specific movements. A vehicle simulator with the true-to-life components is available to provide a safe and convenient alternative to "parking lot" car transfers training for patients with mobility conditions, and more.
For more than 40 years, inpatient rehab has been available at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, and is supported by TIRR Memorial Hermann, one of the nation's best rehab hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Importantly, the relationship between TIRR Memorial Hermann and Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital means patients who require physical and rehabilitation medicine will have access to the same continuum of care as those at TIRR Memorial Hermann close to home in Southwest Houston. This means patients treated for stroke, brain injury, and other trauma at Memorial Hermann Southwest can stay in the same facility for inpatient care and rehabilitation services, and then have access to one of TIRR Memorial Hermann's many outpatient therapy locations following discharge.
Our rehabilitation programs take place in a supportive, patient-centered environment, where patients' goals are at the center of what we do. A customized rehabilitation treatment plan is developed for every patient with the following conditions, including, but not limited to:
Care teams at TIRR Memorial Hermann - Southwest may include affiliated physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, patient and family members, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, neuropsychologists, case managers, social workers, clinical dietitians, respiratory therapists and/or chaplains.
Affiliated physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians work closely with your primary care physician and other specialists to ensure continuity in your medical care, allowing them to be kept abreast of your care while you are in a rehabilitation setting.

Although the majority of our referrals come from acute-care hospitals, we also receive referral from other sources, - including, but not limited to, physician offices and skilled nursing facilities.
Funding sources may include private insurance, worker’s compensation, government programs (i.e., Medicare) and self-pay. In addition, charity care can be provided in accordance with the appropriate guidelines.

From US 59 N, travel South, exit Beechnut and go left under 59 to Brae Acres Road, and turn left onto the Southwest Hospital Campus.
From the Sam Houston Tollway, travel North on US 59, exit Beechnut, turn right and go to Brae Acres Road - the first light, and turn left onto the Southwest Hospital Campus.
From IH 10 W, exit South to the Sam Houston Tollway, then North on US 59, exit Beechnut, turn right and go to Brae Acres Road - the first light, and turn left onto the Southwest Hospital Campus.
