Dr. Fernando Miranda, MD

After finishing his undergraduate degree in biology at Florida International University, Dr. Fernando Miranda earned his medical degree at Pennsylvania State University. He completed a residency in surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine and a fellowship in surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Dr. Miranda is board-certified in surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He sees patients for general surgery, including hernia, gall bladder, bowel, stomach and heartburn problems, as well as bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy or correction of a sleeve gastrectomy, which involves either removing a band or converting from a gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass.

Because Dr. Miranda understands that surgery can be an intimidating prospect, he takes time to describe the problem and talk patients through the process. He wants them to feel secure that the condition will be taken care of with minimal problems and positive outcomes.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society for Bariatric Surgery,

American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and Harris County Medical Society.
