Primary care provider Dr. Jae Dequina is board certified in family medicine. A Pearland native, Dr. Dequina earned his undergraduate degree in biology from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree at the University of North Texas Health Science Center-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston.
Inspired by his parents, who were both involved in the health care field, Dr. Dequina translated a lifelong interest in science—especially biology—into a medical career. He sees being a primary care provider as a way he can serve his hometown.
He treats patients for the full range of primary care conditions, from common colds, infections and allergies to management of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. His primary clinical interests are wellness, preventative medicine and mental health, with a goal of helping patients feel they are in a better place, both physically and mentally.
To accomplish that goal, Dr. Dequina provides patient care from an individualized, whole-person approach. He sees patients as more than numbers, symptoms and lab results and takes into account other aspects of their lives that can affect their health. He enjoys getting to know his patients over time and seeing them make progress with their health. He also wants his patients to see him as a kind and caring physician with whom they can share anything that’s happening in their lives.
He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Academy of Family Physicians and Texas Medical Association.
