After graduating from Loyola University New Orleans with his bachelor’s degree, Ahmad Iqbal, MD, FACC, completed his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at UTSouthwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He then went on to complete his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute through the University of Missouri - Kansas City, and his advanced heart failure and transplant fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, Dr. Iqbal is dedicated to providing quality cardiovascular care to adult patients. Dr. Iqbal specializes in treating patients with advanced heart failure, including those with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), as well as patients with heart transplants. His special interest is in mechanical circulatory support options for patients requiring additional life support measures (ECMO, Impella), as well as cardiac amyloidosis, pulmonary hypertension, cardio-diabetology and cardio-oncology.
Additionally, Dr. Iqbal is a diplomat of the National Board of Echocardiography and specializes in adult comprehensive echocardiography, including stress echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography. He also practices non-invasive cardiology, including preventative and nuclear cardiac imaging.
