Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital is proud to announce it was recently designated as a Level II Maternal Facility in Perinatal Care by the Texas Department of State Health Services. A Level II designation is awarded to facilities that provide a commitment to excellence that exceed minimum hospital licensure requirements.
“I’m beyond proud that Memorial Hermann Cypress provides comprehensive care to low-risk and moderate-risk pregnant patients as well as postpartum patients in Cypress and our outlying communities,” said Memorial Hermann Cypress CEO Jerry Ashworth. “This designation is a great example of our daily commitment to our community, specifically our maternal patient population by providing safe, high-quality and evidence-based care.”
Memorial Hermann Cypress has the capability of caring for pregnant and postpartum women with low to moderate obstetric risk factors. This designation also signifies that the Cypress facility has a sound plan for transferring high-risk obstetric women to a facility designated to safely provide more acute care.

As part of the commitment to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity, Texas law now requires all hospitals that provide maternity services receive a maternal level of care designation by Aug. 31, 2021 to receive Medicaid reimbursement for obstetrical care. Designation is a formal recognition for a hospital’s maternal care capabilities and commitment to excellence that exceed minimal hospital licensure requirements. This commitment is evaluated through compliance with the Texas Administrative Code and ensures that the hospital is meeting standards designated by the state of Texas.
