Dr. Herbert’s primary clinical interests are complex and minimally invasive spine surgery, neuro-trauma and neuro-oncology. Dr. Herbert treats patients ages 16 and older. His extensive training ranges from ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery to the most complex open spine surgery. He also has extensive training in all aspects of spine and brain trauma, as well as management of spine and brain tumors.
A Houston native, Dr. Herbert earned undergraduate degrees in cellular and molecular biology and Spanish at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and his medical degree at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Missouri and a fellowship in spine neurosurgery at the University of Washington in Seattle.
He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and American Association of Neurological Surgeons and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and Phi Beta Kappa.
