The Memorial Hermann Amputation Prevention Center® and Wound Care - Memorial City is dedicated to optimizing outcomes for patients with non-healing wounds and preventing lower limb loss in patients with chronic, non-healing wounds. Our approach to wound care is comprehensive, coordinating traditional and advanced therapies and techniques to reduce healing time and improve healing rates. The team features a dedicated affiliated physician plus nurses and technicians with advanced training in wound care and hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy.
Our medical director will complete a history and physical, order diagnostic tests (if indicated) and determine a plan of care. Patients are evaluated for possible physical conditions, such as diabetes, which could interfere with proper healing. The care team follows evidence-based clinical pathways to determine why wounds are not healing. Individualized treatment plans are developed using the most effective technologies to provide maximum healing and relief for patients. Treatments will focus on the causation of the wound, co-existing conditions that impact wound healing and topical wound management.
Services offered include:
We offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), a treatment that is administered in a hyperbaric chamber that delivers 100% oxygen with increase atmospheric pressure. The air pressure inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber is about two and a half times greater than the normal pressure in the atmosphere. This “hyperbaric” (or high pressure) dose of oxygen helps your blood carry more oxygen to your organs and tissues to promote wound healing. It also activates the white blood cells to fight infection.
In general, most health insurance plans and Medicare cover wound care. For specific questions about insurance coverage, please contact your insurance provider directly.
