EMG Nerve Conduction Studies

EMG nerve conduction studies are a diagnostic test performed by the physicians and staff for the purpose of investigating the function of the peripheral nervous system in patients suspected of having abnormal conditions of the nerve roots, nerves, muscles, or the neuromuscular junction. Because of the specialized nature of these tests, a physician referral is required.

EMG nerve conduction studies can detect or rule out disease or injury of the nerves such as neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, peroneal neuropathy, and radial nerve palsy; disease or injury of the proximal nerves such as brachial plexopathy and lumbar plexopathy; disease of the muscles such as myopathy or myositis; disease of the neuromuscular junction such as myasthenia gravis and myasthenic syndrome; diseases of the motor nerve such as Lou Gehrig’s disease or ALS; and disease or injury of the nerve roots such as radiculopathy whether it is caused by spondylosis, degenerative disc disease or other causes. For information on scheduling or preparation for an EMG nerve conduction study,  please call (713) 333-6900 directly.

Parking Information

We are located in the Medical Plaza 3 Building of the Memorial City Memorial Hermann Hospital Campus. Once you arrive at Gessner road and the cross street to the hospital you will see the building just past the intersection. Immediately past the building is a driveway which leads to the closest parking garage – number 3. If you miss it, don’t panic, go on towards Kingsride lane and make a right. Another driveway is just ahead. Turn right and go on into parking garage 3. Park on the second floor or above for free. The first floor is $20!

If you need handicapped parking, it is located right in front of the building. Make a right at the hospital intersection. The parking will then be to your left just in front of the building.

If you need special assistance getting into the building, call (713) 242-2800. Security will assist you to and from your car. If you prefer a valet, it is available immediately in front of the hospital entrance.
