Dr. Kiran Farheen earned her medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
Board certified in rheumatology, Dr. Farheen has been in practice since 2005. She treats arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Kawasaki disease and other rheumatic diseases of the joints, soft tissue and connective tissue.
She has had advanced training and conducted research on ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis that causes inflammation of the vertebrae and can lead to severe, chronic pain and discomfort. She also served as an assistant professor of rheumatology and clinical immunogenetics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
Dr. Farheen understands that chronic diseases can impact every aspect of a person’s physical and emotional life. She believes that each patient’s experience is unique and that the physician’s role is to provide guidance and assist the patient to achieve the best results possible. She draws on own experiences to connect with her patients on an empathetic, not just clinical, level.
