Dr. Wael Asi, MD

Dr. Wael M. Asi received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine in Lebanon. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency and served as chief resident with The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine at the MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, previously known as the Good Samaritan Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Asi went on to complete his pulmonology and critical care medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Board certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, Dr. Asi has  clinical interests that include asthma, COPD and sleep disorders. He sees patients with unexplained shortness of breath, non-resolving cough, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, sarcoidosis, lung cancer, pneumoconiosis and pulmonary fibrosis among other diseases.

Throughout his career, Dr. Asi has been honored with numerous recognitions, including being named by Consumers' Research Council of America as America’s Top Physicians (2007-2009). In addition, he was awarded HealthSouth Hospital of Houston’s 2005 Triple Crown Award, Memorial Hermann  The Woodlands Medical Center’s 2002 Physician of the Year Award, Memorial Hermann Health System’s 2001 Hero Award and Memorial Hermann  The Woodlands Medical Center’s Physician of the Year Nominee (1999-2001).

Dr. Asi is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Thoracic Society and the Texas Medical Association.
