Linda Dang, MD, earned her Bachelor’s degree from University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Dr. Dang thinks of her work as a partnership; she partners closely with the patient and their parents to provide guidance and be a health advisor, and always incorporates the whole family into the treatment plan decision process. This partnership begins from the first interaction when Dr. Dang warmly greets her patient.
“I start by introducing myself first to the child patient and then to the parent,” she says. “I feel like this gains trust of the child, which is so important.”
Dr. Dang sees patients from newborn to age 18. In addition to well checkups and sick visits, she treats a wide array of conditions such as growth and development, chronic conditions like asthma, and she provides counseling on childhood obesity. Dr. Dang is also fluent in Vietnamese.
When developing a treatment plan, Dr. Dang believes clear communication is key. She works to ensure both the child and parent understand what is being asked of them whether the subject is something complex, such as medical condition or taking medication; or something more routine, like healthy eating or exercise. Dr. Dang prides herself on taking time with each patient and parent to listen to and understand their concerns.
In her leisure time, Dr. Dang enjoys spending time with her family, running, cooking and trying different restaurants.
