Dr. Jon Rhoads earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California Los Angeles Medical Center and fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, Dr. Rhoads specializes in the treatment of diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, colic, celiac disease and abdominal pain. His research studies focus on infantile colic and the benefits of probiotics in several models of human disease.

He was named one of the Top Doctors by Houstonia Magazine, listed as one of America’s Top Pediatricians and recognized among the top one percent of pediatric gastroenterologists by U.S. News and World Report. He has received numerous awards and recognition, has authored many articles in medical professional journals and is a member of local, state and national medical societies.

Currently the director of pediatric gastroenterology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, Dr. Rhoads formerly served as clinical professor of pediatrics at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and professor of Pediatrics/division of Gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Rhoades enjoys traveling as well as playing the piano and organ.
