Dr. Kevin Jong, MD

Dr. Kevin Jong, who grew up in southwest Houston, earned his undergraduate degree in biology at The University of Texas at Austin. His finished his medical degree and internship at Baylor College of Medicine before completing his ophthalmology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. At Tulane, he was chief resident and mentored residents at five hospitals. After his residency, he spent four years treating underserved Hispanic patients in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Dr. Jong, who is board certified in ophthalmology, has been in practice since 1992. He treats eye infections, eye injuries, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, corneal diseases, eye pain and glaucoma. He also performs eye exams, microsurgery and LASIK surgery. Dr Jong is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and a member of the Texas Ophthalmological Association and Texas Medical Association.

His honors include a Young Investigators Award from the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists and a Welch Foundation scholarship for studies on laser ablation of human tissue. That research included early investigation of the effects on human corneas of lasers used in current LASIK procedures.

A resident of Bellaire, Dr. Jong is married and the father of three children. When he’s is not playing with his children, he enjoys golf, tennis and fishing.
