Dr. Quincy Bascombe earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Howard University, a master’s degree in public health at the University of Kentucky, and his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine. After completing an internship at Howard University Hospital, he began a residency in family medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler before redirecting his training towards occupational medicine, completing his residency at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Bascombe is board certified in occupational medicine. He sees patients who have been hurt on the job or have some type of work-related injury such as a low back sprain or rotator cuff sprain. He also administers specialized work-related examinations required by the Department of Transportation or individual employers.
In addition to his board certification, Dr. Bascombe is a certified DOT examiner, certified medical review officer, certified diver medical examiner and certified x-ray supervisor and operator. His clinical interests include assessing risk and implementing strategies to help prevent work-related injuries, particularly in high-risk industries. He provides comprehensive care for work-related injuries with a focus on early intervention, evidence-based management and education to improve long-term employee health.
Dr. Bascombe wants his patients to see him as a knowledgeable, trustworthy and empathetic physician who puts them on a treatment plan that can get them back to work as quickly and safely as possible. His greatest professional satisfaction comes from seeing his patients returning to work and doing what they love with good mobility and function.
