After finishing his medical degree at Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Dr. Paul Carey earned a master's in public health and is completing a PhD in environmental science with a concentration in Total Worker Health science at UTHealth Houston. He completed a graduate program in biomedical science at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, followed by residencies in pathology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, preventive medicine at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine in Edinburg, and occupational and environmental medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
A board-certified occupational medicine specialist, Dr. Carey speaks Spanish and Italian. His clinical interests include occupational medicine, toxicology and workplace musculoskeletal injuries.
Dr. Carey takes a holistic approach to occupational medicine. Identifying mental, physical, workplace and lifestyle factors, he believes, is vital to understanding influences that affect employee physical health and well-being. This knowledge provides a strong foundation for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.
He genuinely listens to patients, a practice that facilitates better understanding of health care issues and future health outcomes. A resident of Sugar Land, Dr. Carey enjoys playing tennis, spending time with his family and traveling.
