Dr. Sausan Lawal earned her undergraduate degree in nutrition and food science at Wayne State University in Detroit and her medical degree at Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
Dr. Lawal, who is board certified in OB/GYN, sees patients for both obstetrical and gynecological needs. She holds certificates in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, neonatal resuscitation, advanced life support in obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring and laparoscopy. Her training includes both complicated gynecology cases and high-risk obstetrical cases.
Her primary clinical interests are pre-natal care, preventative care such as well-woman exams and pre-conception counseling and planning, including contraceptives. She is fluent in Bangla (Bengali).
Dr. Lawal’s approach to care is to listen carefully, collaborate on the best approach to any subject that concerns the patient and determine how to involve both the patient and her family. She wants her patients to feel they can talk to her about anything, completely without judgement.
Dr. Lawal is a member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American Osteopathic Association.
Away from her practice, she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and fitness.
