Dr. Burroughs is a Houston gynecologist who attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where she was awarded the prestigious Howard Hughes Research Fellowship. After graduating with scholastic accolades from the Medical University of South Carolina, in beautiful Charleston, SC, she completed her residency at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX, where she received high recognition for excellence in teaching.
Dr. Burroughs having recently completed her residency is highly trained on the latest medical techniques. She is well versed in minimally invasive hysterectomy, Essure (an in office alternative to tubal ligation), female incontinence procedures, endometrial ablations, and laparoscopy. In addition, to gynecology procedures, she received excellent training in managing a broad spectrum of obstetrics which include, but not limited to, preeclampsia, bleeding complications, preterm labor and diabetes.
She entered into the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide comprehensive health care for women throughout their lives; starting in their late teen years. Dr. Burroughs has a special interest in guiding young women not only with health care issues, but also with regards to honing self esteem and being goal oriented. Recently, she was selected to be an annual speaker at the "Care to Chat" forum, which provides information to young women about various topics on "becoming a young woman".
Dr. Burroughs, is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. In addition, Houston gynecologist Dr. Burroughs is a devoted member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and swimming.
Currently, she is training for an amateur triathlon competition. Dr. Burroughs attributes her success to her parents who instilled in her, and her brother, the value of hard work and perseverance, as well as that God will always guide your footsteps. Today, as part of her effort to be the best gynecologist in Houston, TX, Dr. Burroughs continues to help women in Texas through her services in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
