Dr. Sowmya Puthalapattu, MD

Dr. Sowmya Puthalapattu earned her medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine, and a nephrology fellowship at St Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.

Dr. Puthalapattu, who is board certified in nephrology, has practiced in Houston since she completed her fellowship in 2009. Her primary clinical interests are chronic kidney disease, hyponatremia (low level of sodium in the blood) and hypertension (high blood pressure). She treats patients 18 and older and members of her staff speak Spanish.

Dr. Puthalapattu is a member of the Texas Medical Association and American Society of Nephrology. Her small practice allows individual attention and care while providing all services related to nephrology. She spends significant time with her patients, who describe her as kind and compassionate.

A resident of The Woodlands, Dr. Puthalapattu is married and the mother of two children. Her favorite leisure activities are traveling and hiking.
