Dr. Shahid Rahman, MD

Interventional cardiologist Dr. Shahid Rahman is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. After finishing an undergraduate degree in creative writing from the University of Houston, he earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, followed by fellowships in general cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Dr. Rahman’s clinical interests include cardiovascular disease, angiograms, angioplasty, cardiac rehabilitation, hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), hyperlipidemia (excess lipids or fats in the blood), hypertension (high blood pressure), invasive cardiology, ischemic heart disease and lipid disorders. He focuses on the vascular beds in the head, heart and legs to control risk factors that could lead to heart attack, stroke or blockage, or, if a problem has already arisen, to repair it.

When Dr. Rahman was in college, his father had a heart attack and the amazing care he received prompted the aspiring writer to shift his career plans to medicine. His approach is to see patients as family and to offer the best-possible medical treatment and lifestyle changes that will prevent the need for surgery or procedures. The most rewarding parts of his practice are both immediate and long-term: first, when he can help patients see tangible benefits of treatment and, later, after years of relationship-building and successful health outcomes.

Dr. Rahman is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and American Medical Association.

Away from his practice, his favorite leisure activities are golf, tennis, reading, cooking and traveling.
