Dr. Omar Sheikh, MD

Dr. Omar Sheikh earned his medical degree from Baqai Medical University, Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his residency in internal medicine at UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Ore., interventional cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and endovascular and peripheral cardiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Sheikh is quadruple board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and adult echocardiography. He treats adult patients and also speaks fluent Urdu and Punjabi and conversational Spanish.

He treats a broad range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart failure, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and venous disease. His expertise includes cardiac catheterization, coronary angiography and stenting, intravascular imaging, invasive hemodynamics, vascular access and mechanical circulatory support devices such as as catheter-based, miniaturized heart pumps and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP).

Dr. Sheikh believes in a patient-centered approach focused on prevention, education and individualized cardiovascular care.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and young son, following Houston sports teams, staying active and playing squash, basketball, tennis, soccer, cricket and football.
