Dr. O’Neill was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. He earned his bachelor’s degree in bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego, where he was awarded the prestigious Jacobs School of Engineering Scholarship. After graduating summa cum laude from the School of Engineering, he moved to Houston to attend medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. O’Neill then completed residency training in internal medicine at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. After his residency, he returned to Houston for fellowship training in general cardiology and interventional cardiology at the Texas Heart Institute.

He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, and Internal Medicine.  He is also board certified in Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, and in Nuclear Cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.  He has been designated a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

His clinical interests include a broad variety of areas within the field of cardiovascular disease, including prevention of cardiovascular disease, management of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. With his training in interventional cardiology, he has a particular interest in coronary angioplasty and stenting for the treatment of heart attacks and angina.

While he enjoys the intellectual satisfaction and the procedural challenges of his profession, he believes the greatest reward of being an interventional cardiologist is the ability to serve patients and improve their quality of life.

Outside of his professional pursuits, his favorite hobby is playing his Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. His favorite artists include the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, George Strait and Garth Brooks.
