Interventional cardiologist, Dr. Humair Mirza, is board certified in four areas: interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases, internal medicine, and nuclear cardiology. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).
After earning a medical degree at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Dr. Mirza treats cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and related diseases. His primary clinical interests are interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases, coronary heart disease, revascularization of coronary heart disease (reopening blocked arteries to restore blood flow to the heart) and congestive heart failure. He utilizes a range of approaches: clinical cardiology (diagnosing and treating heart disease), non-invasive (including echocardiology and nuclear stress testing) and invasive (including cardiac-catheterization and angioplasty with balloons and stents), in order to diagnose and treat patients.
Widely published in medical journals, Dr. Mirza also has been part of more than a dozen research studies. He has been involved in teaching and academics, as well as medical information shows for television and interactive community seminars.
His approach to patient care centers on being accessible and listening to what the patient is saying. He wants patients to be comfortable talking to him about their health, and his patients describe him as easy to talk to.
Dr. Mirza is married and the father of three children. Away from his practice, he enjoys traveling, composing and playing music, fine dining and outdoor sports.
