Dr. Sameer Murali, MD

After earning a degree in biology from Rice University, Dr. Sameer Murali completed his medical degree and residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He also completed a master’s in health services research from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.

Board certified in internal medicine, obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine, Dr. Murali specializes in helping patients achieve sustainable weight loss and better health through personalized, science-based care. He also is fluent in Spanish, Hindi and Kannada.

As Medical Director of Obesity Medicine for Memorial Hermann Health System, he leads initiatives in advanced obesity therapeutics and integrated weight management. Having personally struggled with his own weight since childhood and his family’s strong history of diabetes, Dr. Murali is dedicated to making effective, science-based obesity care more accessible and he strives to treat each patient with medical expertise and empathy.

Throughout his medical career, he has cared for more than 30,000 patients, authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and delivered a TED Talk on behavior change and weight management.
