Dr. Ritu Patel, MD

Dr. Ritu Patel earned her medical degree at the University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine, now the American University of Integrated Sciences, in Sint Marten. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at MacNeal Hospital-Loyola School of Medicine in Chicago and a fellowship in nephrology at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Patel, who is board certified in internal medicine, has been in practice since 2012 and in Houston since 2018. Her primary clinical interests are internal medicine, nephrology, hypertension, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. She also provides primary care and treats patients ages 18 and older. Dr. Patel also speaks Gujarati and Spanish.

Her practice style centers on lifestyle modifications and improvement in health. She takes time to thoroughly explain why tests are ordered and what the results mean. Her patients say her expertise, energy, warmth and sincerity put them at ease immediately.

A resident of the Rice Military area, Dr. Patel enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her dog Snowball, staying active and riding bikes--both outside and indoors. She describes herself as an “amazing aunt.”
