Dr. Mary Shoemaker, MD

Dr. Mary Katherine Shoemaker earned undergraduate degrees in biological sciences and individualized studies in liberal arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, followed by her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She completed her residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, where her rotation included academic, county, Veteran’s Administration and pediatric hospitals, as well as an urban clinic.

Dr. Shoemaker, who is board certified in both pediatrics and internal medicine, has been in practice since 2019. She sees patients of all ages for both acute and chronic health conditions, and her clinical interests include newborn care, adolescent medicine and women’s health.

Her approach to patient care is grounded in being a team member with her patients. She understands that every patient has unique needs, so she listens carefully to the patient’s story and uses her training and expertise to find a good solution. She wants her patients to see her as a warm, open physician and a good listener who helps them find answers to their issues and improves their quality of life.
