Dr. Adrianne Powell, MD

After finishing an undergraduate degree in biology at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Dr. Adrianne Powell earned her medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn. She completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Powell, a board-certified internal medicine specialist, has been in practice since 2002 and provides primary care for adult patients (18 and older). She treats patients for acute ailments, including urinary tract infections and tendonitis, and chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Her primary clinical interests include preventive medicine and lifestyle medicine—the evidence-based use of diet, exercise and stress management to treat and prevent chronic conditions.

She approaches patient care as an educator and advisor. She wants her patients to understand what’s going on with their bodies and provides them with a variety of treatment options. That information allows them to make choices that best fit their individual lifestyles.

Dr. Powell wants her patients to see her as a good listener who provides solutions to their ailments and helps them optimize their health. She finds her greatest professional satisfaction in building long-term relationships with patients, identifying solutions to health problems and empowering her patients to manage their conditions in ways that result in a better quality of life.
