Dr. Theresa Rodriguez, MD

Dr. Theresa Rodriguez earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biological science at The University of Texas at El Paso, a master’s degree in public health at UTHealth School of Public Health-El Paso and her medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery internship and residency at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Dr. Rodriguez, who is board certified in surgery, sees patients for a variety of general surgery concerns such as hernias, gall bladder disease, benign and malignant breast disease and thyroid disorders. Her clinical interests include benign and malignant breast disease and endocrine conditions. She utilizes minimally invasive surgery techniques whenever possible.

In addition to her board certification, Dr. Rodriguez holds certificates in endoscopic surgery, laparoscopic surgery, advanced trauma life support and advanced cardiovascular life support. She also speaks fluent Spanish.

Based on her belief in a compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, she takes time with patients and families to listen to their needs and answer their questions.

Recognizing that surgery can be a very intrusive and frightening prospect, Dr. Rodriguez wants her patients to be comfortable talking to her and to understand the procedure before it is scheduled. She wants her patients to feel they receive the highest quality care in a respectful and compassionate environment.

Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Rodriguez enjoys spending time with her family and her two dogs, as well as painting, sketching, practicing vinyasa yoga, sewing and collecting vinyl records.
