Dr. Rose Thomas earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Texas A&M University and her medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at UT Health San Antonio Medical School.

Dr. Thomas is a general surgeon who treats hernias, gall bladder issues, breast cancer and other general surgical issues. Her primary clinical interest is robotic surgery, which she utilizes for complex abdominal wall reconstruction, colon surgery, gall bladder surgery and other procedures.

Her approach to care is patient centered. She takes time to discuss options for surgery and then tailors an approach that incorporates the patient’s needs and preferences.

As a woman and a surgeon, Dr. Thomas is empathic to women with breast cancer. She feels that it is an honor to treat breast cancer patients and finds it rewarding to get a patient through such a difficult part of her life.
