Dr. Michael Kleinman, MD

Dr. Michael Kleinman earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Rice University, a master’s degree in cell biology at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Dallas and his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N. Y.

Dr. Kleinman, who is board certified in surgery, sees patients for abdominal conditions that cannot be treated non-surgically or for conditions with unidentified causes. He focuses primarily on surgical oncology for cancers of abdominal organs such as the pancreas, stomach and esophagus, as well as thyroid surgery. He performs open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

Many of the diseases Dr. Kleinman deals with, particularly cancers, are very complex, and he feels that it’s important for patients to have a full understanding of the disease, its prognosis and the rationale for surgery or other approaches to treatment. He wants patients to have clear expectations for their options and understand that he will care for them throughout the process.

In addition to his board certification, Dr. Kleinman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Southwest Surgical Council and Texas Surgical Society. He is a member of the American Society of General Surgeons, American Foregut Society, American Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Association, International Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Association, Society of Surgical Oncology, European Society of Surgical Oncology and Harris County Medical Society.
