Dr. Mark Hobeika earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at New York University School of Medicine and a fellowship in transplant surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.

Board certified in surgery, Dr. Hobeika sees both adult and pediatric patients. His primary clinical interests are liver transplantation, kidney transplantation and pancreas transplantation, and he has specific expertise in advanced organ preservation technologies and liver transplantation using organs from donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors.

Dr. Hobeika is part of a team of multidisciplinary professionals working to provide outstanding care for patients with advanced organ disease in need of transplantation. Patients particularly value his communication and commitment to reducing barriers to transplantation.

He currently heads the Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and serves as Director of Abdominal Organ Transplantation at the Memorial Hermann Transplant Institute. A member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and International Liver Transplant Society, Dr. Hobeika is past chair of the ASTS Surgical Skills Committee and co-founder of the ASTS surgical skills continuing professional development program. He continues working to expand donor organ utilization through research, policy development and education.

A resident of the Medical Center area, Dr. Hobeika is married and the father of two boys. Outside of his practice, he belongs to the F3Houston men's workout group and enjoys cooking and fishing.
