Dr. James Field, who grew up in Spring, Texas, graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences. He earned his medical degree at UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship and residency in general surgery.
Board certified in surgery, Dr. Field is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He treats patients ages 16 and older, and his office provides translation for Spanish-speakers.
His primary clinical interests are advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He has extensive experience with laparoscopic procedures, including hernias, colectomies, reflux procedures, gall bladder and appendectomies.
A strong proponent of laparoscopic and robotic surgery, Dr. Field believes that these minimally invasive approaches lead to faster recovery. His training and experience allow him to evaluate a patient, develop a clinical plan and communicate it to the patient and family members in a manner they can understand.
His patients particularly value the time he spends with them, not only explaining the surgery but also answering their questions. They describe him as a personable, knowledgeable and skilled surgeon who takes good care of his patients.
Dr. Field is married and lives in The Woodlands. Away from his practice he enjoys golf, traveling, good wine and collecting vintage watches.
