Dr. Vanitha Bala, MD

Dr. Vanitha Bala, is a board-certified gastroenterologist. She earned her medical degree from Mysore Medical College, India, and completed her internal medicine internship and residency at Wright State University, Ohio, where she served as a chief resident. She completed her gastroenterology fellowship at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine at Richmond, Va.

Dr. Bala provides high-quality care to her patients and offers colon cancer screenings, upper endoscopies and other GI procedures.  Patients value Dr. Bala’s compassion and commitment to providing the best care to every individual, every day. She respects each patient’s values and places her patients at the center of their care to ensure they are involved in the planning of their treatments.

Dr. Bala has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in eminent medical journals and presented many of her research work at various national and international scientific meetings.  While she was a faculty at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, she authored a chapter in the seminal book, "Comprehensive Hospital Medicine, An Evidence-Based Approach" for hospitalist all over the medical world.

Dr. Bala is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).She is on the board of directors of the Indian Doctors Association for Greater Houston and an active member of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston.

Dr. Bala actively serves The Woodlands and Houston Metro communities in various capacities while volunteering for free health clinics and educating the underserved population about health care.

In her spare time, Dr. Bala loves spending quality time with her husband and their two wonderful children.
