Dr. Serge-Alain Awasum, MD

Dr. Serge-Alan Awasum graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s in clinical laboratory sciences from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He earned his medical degree from East Tennessee State University Medical School in Johnson City and completed his residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Board certified in gastroenterology and hepatology, Dr. Awasum has clinical interests in hepatobiliary tract diseases and inflammatory bowel diseases. Fluent in French, he treats patients 18 years and older with digestive system problems. His specialties include GERD, colitis, gallstones, liver, pancreatic and biliary tract diseases, Crohn’s disease, abdominal pain, irritable vowel syndrome and Barrett’s esophagus disease.

His practice philosophy is to provide caring and leading-edge subspecialty care to help his patients live healthier and more enjoyable lives. He offers digestive wellness maintenance programs, such as advising patients about colon cancer screening and prevention.
