Raised in Houston, Dr. Katherine Nguyen graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston. She went to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston (UTMB) and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Scott & White Memorial Hospital-Texas A&M University System Health Science Center in Temple, Texas, where she served as chief resident. She remained at Scott & White to complete her fellowship in gastroenterology.

Board certified in gastroenterology, Dr. Nguyen has practiced medicine since 2004. She specializes in digestive and liver disorders as well as general gastroenterology. Her clinical interests include colorectal cancer screening and women’s health issues. Dr. Nguyen speaks Vietnamese.

She is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Texas Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the  Harris County Medical Society.

Dr. Nguyen and her husband, who is also a physician, have two daughters. In her leisure time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys running, snorkeling, traveling, literature and spending time with the family.
