Dr. Farid Abushamat, MD

Dr. Farid Abushamat earned his medical degree at Tulane University in New Orleans. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of California San Diego and a fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology and advanced endoscopy at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine, Dr. Abushamat has practiced since 2018. He sees patients ages 18 years and older. Dr. Abushamat provides care across the spectrum of digestive and liver conditions, from acid reflux and abdominal pain to colon cancer screening, liver disease and complex pancreaticobiliary disorders. He offers experienced management of complex pancreaticobiliary diseases via endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a procedure that combines endoscopy and X-ray to diagnose and treat conditions in the bile ducts, gallbladder, pancreas and liver. He also speaks Arabic.
